(More customer reviews)This has got to be the deal of the century, and not only that, these pans will last you almost that long! My mother has had a set for 35 years, and I've had mine for 5. Nearly indestructible, dishwasher safe, good performers on the stovetop, with stay-cool handles! They even look great after all those years!
Keep in mind that because they are mostly stainless steel, with an aluminum bottom, Farberware does not heat up quite as fast as, say, hard-anodized aluminum such as Calphalon, which gourmets prefer. Stainless steel is a poor heat conductor, while aluminum is good and copper is the best. On the plus side, you can't put Calphalon in the dishwasher and Calphalon does not have true stay-cool handles, like Farberware.
Anyway, how often do you buy a gift knowing that it will still be around 20, 30, 40 years from now? By the way, if the pot does have a problem, they come with a Lifetime Warranty.

Oneida 8 Quart Multi Pot Review

(More customer reviews)Although I searched for the metal content of this item here at Amazon's listing and elsewhere, the only available info is that it is "professional weight steel construction". Well that SOUNDS good. So I ordered this.
When the pot arrived I looked in vain on the package for exactly what the stainless steel content is. There is no information on the box and no accompanying documentation. I wasn't even sure if the piece is made in the USA.
So I contacted Oneida. The rep informed me that this piece is 18/0 stainless. How this mix is interpreted as "professional" cookware is anyone's guess. According to info about stainless steel, 18/0 is an inferior grade and prone to spotting and rusting without the nickel. It's also why it is frequently less expensive, as the addition of nickel costs more for the manufacturer.
If you only wanted to boil water in this pot, it would likely be fine. However, I wanted to use it for a variety of purposes (you know... a "multi-pot"!). Cooking acidic foods such as chili or spaghetti sauce could be a problem in the 18/0 stainless. So I am returning this and will look for something else.

After just a few uses, the steel is beginning to "pit" in the bottom. This leads me to believe that this pot was not made with high quality stainless steel.

(More customer reviews)This is one one of the best products you can possibly have in your kitchen for steaming veggies. I own two of them. They are extremely easy to use, clean and store. The legs of the mesh basket are very important and allow you to pour the water used for steaming into the bottom of the container without the veggies actually touching the water during the steaming process. The vented glass top is a MUST for the steaming process and does two essential things. First it allows steam to rise through out the container and escape in a controlled fashion at the top thereby assuring a through steaming & cooking process and equally as important permits the cook to control the heat on your stove needed to produce a regulated funnel of steam by visually seeing and guaging the intensity of the steam funnel coming from the small orifice located on the glass lid. Once the funnel starts to steam you can turn your stove down to low and let the steamer do its job for the next 15-20 minutes. This is a great steamer for food for two or possibly three people for a meal. Will steam asparagus, corn, potatoes, broccoli, brussels sprout, squash as well as any other vegetable that you want to put into the container. You can put more than one kind of vegetable in the steamer at the same time if desired. One word of caution,the stainless steel handles and lid become very hot. Be sure to use gloves or a heating pad when handling the pot, glass top or metal vegetable insert.

Prime Pacific 4 Piece Pasta Cooker and Steamer Set Review

(More customer reviews)This is poorly manufactured from inadequate materials. The metal on the ring of the lid is not securely attached to the glass, leaving an uncleanable crease that collects dirty water. The handles on the pot are inadequately attached, fitting loosely. The loose handle cause water to come through the rivet holes. The pot handles are also flimsy and bent when picking up the full pot. The strainer is too tight of a fit into the pot, and does not easily slide past the pot handle rivets. The strainer is such a close fit to the inside of the pot that as the water boils, steam and boiling water shoot out of the top like a geyser. The holes of the strainer are punched out and left with sharp, rough edges. After boiling one pot of pasta in water, the material became discolored and pitted... I suspect that it is not actually stainless steel as the description claims. When originally opening the box, there was a substance everywhere that seemed to be grease with dirt and metallic residue in little bits everywhere. For how many things were wrong with this, I can't believe that a replacement would be any better, so I returned it and am waiting for my refund.

It is absolutely the best for steaming vegetables. No more waiting for water to boil and over or under cook vegetables. Everything comes out cooked evenly and tasting great with the original flavors of the food and the vegetables. The instructions are very easy to follow. If you have kids, instead of running to a local fast food place, just season pieces of chicken and cook for about 7 minutes or so and you will have healthy, great tasting chicken nuggets. If you have a busy life, always on the run but hate fast food, this is a great addition to your life.
I love mine and 2 of my friends bought theirs and they love them too!

All-Clad Stainless 12-Quart Multi Cooker with Steamer Basket Review

(More customer reviews)Ok, this is obviously not the same as the traditional All Clad stock pots, if it was it would be more then triple the price of this one without the 2 inserts. It is part of the disk bottom collection, however it is still top quality stainless steel and very well made. I certainly would not consider it secondary. It is a little lighter in weight than the traditional All Clad but it is not a light weight pot by any means. It is great for pasta, soup, stew, steaming veggies, etc. You will love it and you can't beat the price. It is very easy to clean and the inserts can be stacked and stored inside. A+
Tip: If you should get something stuck to the stainless steel use a product called "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean it. Most supermarkets have it and Kitchen Etc. and Bed, Bath and Beyond carry it too. The container (like a Comet can) is gold with blue and white writing. All Clad recommends it for cleaning stainless steel and it works like a dream and is very inexpensive.
