There's something to be said for simplicity... Measure two cups of rice using the enclosed rice measure. Pour in water up to the two-cup line on the cooking bowl. Push down the switch and walk away.
I primarily use this for cooking jasmine rice and it does a great job. Sometimes it browns a tiny amount of rice on the bottom, but nothing to be concerned about. I probably just need to add a bit more water since I've read that jasmine rice can be finicky in rice cookers.
It's a good size for making rice, but it's a bit small for steaming. I haven't tried steaming any vegetables yet because the basket's too small to really be of much use to me.
It's also good for heating up a can of soup if your microwave splatters and you feel like using the stove is overkill.
One thing that does irritate me a little is that you have to unplug it to turn it off; as long as it's plugged in, it stays in "warm" mode. Not a huge deal, but an on/off switch would've been nice.
