I have to agree with the other review. I was excited about my new rice pot. I have a large family and this makes lots of rice. So far we have only made the 4 cups and it boiled over twice. I don't know what kind of mess I would have if I attempted to make the 6 cups. Not recommended.

Two large tools wiuld be better than one but one is left to wonder why two would be needed in the first instance. It isn't like I can use the length of either to measure the inside diameter of a steaming pot, which is never given.

Panasonic Rice Cookers Review

Panasonic Rice Cookers

I don't know what the other reviewer was doing wrong but my oatmeal came outstanding and the brown rice come out equally well. A very easy to use rice cooker with many advanced features that the Zojirushi does not have. I paid $180 dollar Zojiushi that played Mozart when the rice was done and died shortly after one year(along with a Zojirushi bread maker); I think I will stick with Panasonic which are more dependable especially having using them for the last 20 years with no problem, just great rice

Panasonic SR-MS182 Fuzzy-Logic 10-Cup Rice Cooker, White Review

Panasonic SR-MS182 Fuzzy-Logic 10-Cup Rice Cooker, White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This cooker is supposed to be able to: cook white rice (normal mode), white rice (quick mode), brown rice, sticky rice, rice porridge, steam, cake, slow cook. I tested the functions I would most often use: cooking white rice, steaming, cake, and slow cooking.
[1] Cook rice (white jasmine) in normal mode
This cooker is meant to make as little as 2 cups rice (4 cup yield cooked) to 10 cups (20 cup yield cooked). Cooking takes about 40 minutes. When cooking the minimum (2 cups) with the recommended amount of water according to the markings in the inner bowl, the finished rice seemed a bit dry and undercooked. Whenever I find the rice slightly undercooked for my taste when the machine says the rice is finished cooking, I let the rice steam for a few additional minutes in "warm" mode, and it'll usually eventually get cooked more thoroughly, though still a bit dry. I've had the same problem with my old rice cooker. With smaller amounts of rice, the markings are usually off so I need to add more water than what is recommended. I tried cooking 2 cups again, but this time, added water 1-2 millimeters above the recommended water line, and the rice came out perfect when the machine sounded the "ready" beep. When I made a larger amount in this cooker (4 cups), I added water only up to the recommended line, but this time had no problems with the finished rice. Again, this is the same way my old rice cooker (different brand) performed, so don't necessarily think badly of Panasonic's line, there are problems all around - just keep tweaking water as you get to understand how the rice will turn out the more you use the machine.
[2] Cook rice in quick mode
I tried with 2 cups again. Cooking finished in about 15 minutes, but was far more undercooked than the rice in Task 1. I let the rice steam in "warm" mode for about an hour, and the rice was better - took away the whole point of trying to cook rice quickly, though. Doubt I will bother using this over normal cooking.
[3] Steam
You can set the cooking time for steaming anywhere between 1-60 minutes, adjusting in 1 minute increments. The plastic steaming tray fits into the inner bowl of the rice cooker. The tray is approximately 8.25 inches in diameter and 2.25 inches deep. There are two nubs in the plastic tray protruding inwards that you use to help lift the tray out of the inner bowl when steaming is done. Steamed 4 quartered russet potatoes great, and tray was very easy to clean.
[4] Cake
Instead of cake, I made a batter for pumpkin bread that is normally baked at 350º for about 55 minutes in a loaf pan. Put it in the cooker on "cake" mode and it finished cooking in 55 minutes as well. Cooked nicely though the texture of the crust is slightly different and better suited for actual cakes. There will not be the golden crust on the top of the baked good you are used to with oven baking. The top of the cake/bread will look and feel more like steamed buns. You can set the cooking time in "cake" mode anywhere from 20-65 minutes, adjusting in 5 minute intervals.
[5] Slow cook
A completely frozen block of corned beef was cooked in "slow cook" mode for 3.5 hours. It was nice that I didn't have to worry about falling asleep with the machine on since there are no flames to deal with on the stove and didn't have to watch for spillovers. There is no temperature control, but the machine keeps the temperature so the water stays at a low simmer. Cooking times for slow cooking can be adjusted in 30 minute increments anywhere from 1-12 hours.
Happy with overall performance except for quick cooking rice.
Other notes:
The machine will remember the cooking time settings you last used for the steam, cake, and slow cook options - great so you don't have to reset it all the time when you cook the same thing often. A detail I really appreciated was that the inner cover to the lid had a rubber gasket around the edges with a layer of rubber folded back in such a way that when you open the lid, with all the condensation on the inner cover from the steaming of rice, the water is caught in the groove in between the layers of rubber and does not drip all over the bottom half of the machine. The machine displays the time when not in use, but it just operates on a 24-hour clock i.e. when it is 4 in the afternoon, you will see 16:00 on your time display. There is unfortunately no other option for those of us who like to simply see 4:00 pm. The display lays more horizontal than vertically. I wish the display were more vertical so you could easily see the time on it sitting down in a chair across the room, not only if you're standing over it. Disappointed there is no slot/holder for the rice scoop. It would have been nice since once the scoop starts getting used, there's rice sticking all over it and it would be good to have somewhere to put the scoop in between servings without having to dirty another dish or the countertop.

Panasonic SR-3NA Rice Cooker Review

Panasonic SR-3NA Rice Cooker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Although I've only owned this cooker for a lil over a month, I feel qualified to speak to it's usefulness. A bit pricey for the capacity, it's effectiveness can't be overstated. For family of 3 or less this cooker makes plenty of rice. I especially like that it can make one serving of rice fairly quickly. No fancy electronics, just a plain timed cooker. Mix the rice and water (or stock), flip the switch and when it turns off you have perfect rice. I found domestic packaged rice like Uncle Ben's to need proportions of 1:1 water to rice. Imported sticky rice from India or Asia needs a lil less water, like .8:1. You'll find the proportions you need. I hope this cooker lasts longer than at least one reviewer claimed. Once outside the warranty period, if the timer fails (I'm sure it uses a simple bi-metal timer), I just wire in a cheap electronic timer from Radio Shack.

Panasonic SR-DE102 Fuzzy-Logic 5-Cup Electronic Rice Cooker/Warmer,White Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My first inclination when my fiance said he wanted a nice rice cooker with fuzzy logic like this was to ask, "what the heck does anyone need with a $90 rice cooker?!"
Well, having this has really changed my mind. The rice is perfect. Every time. Got some stuff to add in to the rice? Fine, dump it in at the beginning. The cooker still cooks it perfectly. Spanish rice? No problem. Just put a can of V8, some salsa, and some butter in, fill to the line with water the rest of the way, and press 'start.' Rice to go with Indonesian, Thai, or Indian food? Put in some Turmeric and Coriander and there it is, fragrant and inviting. Brown rice, long grain, jasmine or basmati, it figures out exactly what to do. It also steams vegetables and other things. It does all the thinking for you about how long to cook it.
Oh yes, and cleanup? A snap. If you just cook rice, just rinse out the bowl. It's got a really nice, high-quality teflon bowl so the scraps come out like *that*. Cooked something more complicated? The bowl is also top-shelf dishwasher safe. So easy.
Perfect rice, every time. I love my new rice cooker.

I bought this rice cooker 2 months ago.(after having a problem with my old nonstick rice cooker) The reason I chose this one because I don't like Taflon nonstick surface. It'd come off no matter how you took good care of it. So far, I'm very pleased with it.
I'm an Asain who eat rice everyday. I cooked as little as 2 cup or as much as 5 cup (full capacity). I never had any experience about rice stick in the bottom of the pot. However, you have to know the trick. Every time you cook rice, you have to let it stand in the pot for at least 10 to 15 minutes (after the cook button change to warm button) before taking rice out of the pot, as a result, rice will never stick. And for this price ($26.99), it's very worth my money for having perfect rice in every meal. Clean up is very easy, just soak the inner pot for several minutes before cleaning.

Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3-Cup Automatic Rice Cooker Review

Panasonic SRG06FG 3.3-Cup Automatic Rice Cooker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Fast easy no fuss way to make rice in a snap. The directions are a little Engrish-y. But in a nutshell:
Scoop out your desired rice amount say 2 cups(using the enclosed scoop).
Rinse the rice a few times in a strainer to get some of the starch out--help it from making a bubbly mess and I find it makes better sticky rice.
1.Dump rice in cooker.
2.Add water to the proper line. Two cups of rice means you add water up to the fill line 2. And yes you put in the water after the rice is already in there.
3.Turn on, wait 15 minutes for the cooker to shut off and let the rice sit unmolested for 15 minutes before eating. = perfect rice.
The directions also recommend soaking the rice for 30 minutes before turning the cooker on, I never do and the rice turns out perfect...let the steam do the work and don't stir or take the lid off while cooking.
Super easy clean up since the unit is non-stick. Can't ask for more at the price. I love mine.
Update: It's June 2008 and mine is still working great. I now don't even bother to rinse the rice first and I've never had my cooker bubble over. For making brown rice, I add a little more water than normal, say 1/4 cup.
Update: 2010, still works great and after running it (the cooker base insert) through the dishwasher all these years it has not yet chipped or scratched or flaked. Also found out the cooker works great with Vigo brands pre-packed Red Beans and Rice or Black Beans and Rice 8oz bags. (1 packet = fill line #2 of water)
